Rewilding Area on the Corner of The Leys

The Flower Bed on the Corner of The Leys is an initiative of the Fernhurst Horticultural Society and is part of the The Blue Campaign encouraging villages to re-wild their green spaces. It takes time to establish an area of this kind and members of the Society have worked hard to ensure a wide range of natural plants for the future. The pictures here show how it looked earlier this week with carefully mown paths. Yesterday a company mowing the area at the side of the Leys has come in and taken it upon themselves to MOW DOWN the whole of this area – it will take at least 12 months to reestablish itself.

Needless to say the Members and local community are devastated over what has happened and will do their best to remedy the situation as quickly as possible.

Floral Coffee morning 26.jpg

Floral Coffee Morning - Saturday 20 June 26

Thank you to everyone who came along yesterday - we do hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.  What a wonderful selection of flowers were brought along for our BAFTA (Bring A Flower To Admire).  Everyone present voted for what they thought was the best flower - it was a difficult choice and our winner was Gill Taylor (a past President of the Society) and she told us all the story behind her exhibit.  I think our Floral Coffee Morning will now be an annual event in the Society Calendar.
